Splinterlands Chat Extension

1. Information We Collect

The Splinterlands Chat Extension is designed with privacy in mind. Here's what we do and don't collect:

What We DON'T Collect:

• Personal information (name, email, phone, address)
• Browsing history or website data from other sites
• Analytics or tracking data
• Chat message content on our servers
• User behavior data
• Location data
• Device identifiers

What We DO Process (Locally Only):

• Splinterlands Username: Read from your existing login session to identify you in chat
• Chat Messages: Stored locally on your device using IndexedDB
• Contact Lists: Guild members and friends list stored locally
• Chat Preferences: UI settings and notification preferences stored locally

2. How We Use Your Information

All data processing happens locally on your device:

• Authentication: We read your existing Splinterlands login session to identify you
• Chat Functionality: Messages are stored locally to provide chat history
• Contact Management: Guild member lists are cached locally for quick access
• User Experience: Preferences are saved locally to maintain your settings

3. Data Storage and Security

Local Storage Only:

• All chat data is stored locally on your device using IndexedDB
• No chat content is stored on our servers. Chat will be stored as message temporarily on our server if the target user is offline. Once the user connects, the message will be delivered as a chat and deleted from our server.
• Your data remains under your control at all times

Message Transmission:

• Messages are transmitted through our WebSocket server for real-time delivery
• Chat pass through our server but are NOT stored or logged
• Our server only facilitates message delivery between users
• All message content is immediately discarded after delivery

Security Measures:

• Integration with Hive Keychain for secure authentication
• No password storage - relies on blockchain authentication
• HTTPS/WSS encryption for all communications
• Limited to splinterlands.com domain only

4. Third-Party Services

Hive Keychain Integration:

• We integrate with the Hive Keychain browser extension for authentication
• We do not have access to your keys
• Authentication is handled entirely by Hive Keychain
• Please refer to Hive Keychain's privacy policy for their data practices

Splinterlands Integration:

• We read publicly available information from your Splinterlands profile
• Guild membership information is used to populate your contact list
• We do not modify or store your Splinterlands account data

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do NOT share, sell, or disclose your data to third parties. Period.

The only exception would be if required by law, but given that we don't store personal data on our servers, there would be nothing to disclose.

6. Your Rights and Control

Data Control:

• View Your Data: All data is stored locally and accessible through browser developer tools
• Delete Your Data: Uninstall the extension or clear browser storage
• Export Your Data: Chat history can be exported through browser tools

Extension Removal:

When you uninstall the extension:

• All locally stored chat data is automatically removed
• No data remains on our servers (because we don't store any)
• Your Splinterlands account is unaffected

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be:

• Posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date
• Announced through the extension if significant changes occur
• Made available before they take effect

8. Technical Details

Permissions Used:

• Storage: To save chat history and preferences locally on your device
• Scripting: To inject chat functionality into the Splinterlands website
• Host Permissions (splinterlands.com): To integrate with the Splinterlands website

Data Retention:

• Chat history: Stored locally until you clear it or uninstall the extension
• Server logs: No message content is logged; only connection metadata for debugging
• Statistics: Anonymous usage statistics (message count, connection count) without user identification
